Springtime Strolls: Exploring the Charming Walks in and Around Whitby

Hopefully, if you are reading this blog, you will visit the LilyRose Hotel in Whitby, in the not-too-distant future. It’s widely known that Whitby is a charming town with a rich history and beautiful landscapes, making it a perfect destination if energising walks, rambles, and hikes are on your agenda.

Our hotel is blessed with a truly magnificent location, near the West Cliff, making it an ideal spot to stay if you want to explore in and around Whitby itself. On a good day, (of which there are many) you’ll see the amazing coastline in the distance and the iconic Whitby Abbey in all its splendour. Local Walks around Whitby

Whatever your fitness level, there’s a certain joy and freedom about strolling around the harbour and piers of Whitby. The harbour is a wonderful place to people watch and enjoy the spectacle of the fishing boats come and go.

A Gentle Walk – Whitby Circular Walk

It’s most important to note that this route is wheelchair and pushchair accessible. The fully paved route takes about 2 hours to walk and is 2 miles in length. Begin at the Star Inn The Harbour and enjoy the sights and history along the route.

Robin Hood’s Bay Wildlife and Heritage Walk

Robin Hood’s Bay is not only interesting from a historical and geographical perspective, but it’s also well known as a former hub of the fishing industry. An enjoyable walk, this effortless walk is 1.5 miles and takes about 2 hours to complete.

North York Moors to Robin Hoods Bay

For something a little more challenging you may want to dedicate about 4 hours to any number of moderate walks around Whitby. This route is 8/9 miles long and highlights along the way include the restored watermill at Ramsdale and the wonderful Stoupe Brow. What better way to end this walk than to enjoy some local fish and chips back in town?

Whitby Ghost Walk

Such a fun walk to do, it’s best booked as part of a group tour in advance and tells stories of sailors and shipwrecks, and of course how Dracula came to associate with Whitby. The 75-minute walking tour is exceedingly popular indeed with people of all ages.
