Celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III in Whitby

King Charles III

This week, the British Public, and ex pats scattered around the world have only one thing on their mind, and that of course is the celebration of the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. It is estimated that millions of us will plan an overnight break or weekend away during the bank holidays weekend.

For this once in a lifetime event, we couldn’t imagine anywhere better than Whitby to enjoy the plethora of parties, MajesTEA’s, street celebrations, and what everyone is talking about: ‘The Whitby in the Park Event’. Hosted by the town council with the support of the Friends of The Pannet Park, this event will take place on Sunday, May 7th from 11am to 3pm.

This exciting event is open to all, and you are advised to bring your own packed lunch or picnic with you. Families of all ages are catered for with treasure hunts, arts, crafts, and games available for all to enjoy. The communities in and around Whitby and North Yorkshire are famous for their hospitality and friendliness and the excitement is palpable as the region prepares for the biggest celebration of the year on Saturday, May 6th.

Whitby library is also holding a writing competition for children and the theme is “If you were crowned king of queen what new rules would you want to create and why?” We can’t wait to hear about some of the winning entries.

The LilyRose Hotel is situated in the heart of Whitby, and we have only a handful of rooms left for those wishing to spend the historic weekend in Whitby. For more information or to book please visit our booking page here.
